Penumbra Level Editor??? - house - 11-07-2010

I've looked everywhere. I cannot find a Penumbra Level Editor. Only Other editors for Penumbra. I REALLY WANT TO MAKE PENUMBRA LEVELS! Please, can someone tell me where they are? I've searched for hours today. Sad

The level editor can be found here: http://wiki.frictionalgames.com/hpl1/start
Don't try though! Tongue I don't think anyone has ever made a successful mod. You need an outdated version of software, there are several programs to download, minimal documentation. Just move on to Amnesia is my suggestion. (you can make something Penumra-esque in the new (BETTER!) level editor.

I've already looked there. There is no level editor for download. Sad

hmm. I think that's where I got 'em...I believe the model editor is used to make scenes or somthing...

tutorial 2.1 Wrote:To create levels for the HPL engine you use a 3D editor. Make sure you have read tutorial 1 so that you have your editor properly setup.

Lets get started, open your 3D editor and make sure units are set to meter.

Thats too bad, you have to use a 3d modeler. Don't you have to buy that kind of stuff?

I think Blender is a free open software 3D modelling tool.

RE: Penumbra Level Editor??? - Spooder Wekd - 02-12-2011

yea theres tons of free modelers, i used 3dmax or something when i was dabbling with modeling for a while. blender is generally regarded as the best of the best though. since theyre free, you can try 'em all! Tongue

Yeah, blender's really good. Here's what one guy made with it for instance:

3ds max is most certainly not free Tongue Blender is the best free modeler afaik, although it does have the most confusing UI when you first start.

The most common professional programs are 3ds max, maya, modo. But the real fun is in sculpting programs like Zbrush / Mudbox. You can get trials of both, Zbrush is superior to mudbox though.

Those 3D modelers are only free if you acquire them illegally, otherwise they cost anything from several hundred dollars to several thousand dollars.
