Electronic Distibution - DukeIt - 03-14-2007

First of all i want to say i just finished the demo and jesus christ guys! This is why i call myself a gamer! I can see you worked so hard on immersing the player and it's payed off more than any other game i can think of! Oh and good call telling the player to turn off the lights! Very nice....

Anyway there is nothing that could stop me from buying this game when it's released (and the subsequent episodes) but i'm unsure on how i want to receive it.

How will the electronic distribution work? Will you be going through third party distributors (steam for example)? Or will it be a direct full game download from your servers? If it's from your servers are we allowed to copy the game (as a backup obviously) or will we be entitled to another download if something goes wrong with the PC and forces an uninstall.

Sorry if these questions have been asked.

Keek up the amazing work!

It's through 3rd parties, our swedish buddies Gamers Gate will have it, http://gamersgate.com
and Strategy First will also sell it online and through their partner network, strategyfirst.com more details on SF should come soon.

Thanks jens. I notice that strategy first is affiliated with steam so i hope it will end up on there. I don't want to have too many games scattered around the net if you know what i mean.

I'll keep checking the site for updates. Thanks again!

What exactly is steam anyways?

Wikipedia Wrote:Steam is a content delivery, digital rights management, multiplayer and communications service and platform developed by Valve Corporation for digital entertainment. It is currently used to digitally distribute and manage games including Half-Life and Half-Life 2.

It'd be nice to have it on steam. Steam allows backups, and many other popular games use it too. I usually buy either retail, or through steam, because I know both are very reliable. In fact, Im' beginning to like steam better because I can make backups of my games, and stuff. It never requires a cd to play, and even works offline if you have your account saved on the computer.

Yea steam is a good system. I'm really not sure why it's got a bad reputation. I'm the same as you. Boxed or steam and tbh i hope i can get Penumbra on steam. Just means i'd wait less time!
