What kind of hardware was the game running on in those trailers? IE what kind of hardware do I need to get those liquid smooth framerates?

They likely rented out nasa's computers for a day or so.

Jens can give you better specs but I think it is something like 2Ghz, 1GB RAM and a Geforce 6800. The game is run in 640x480 but that is mainly becuase video capture will slow down the game too much else.

I have 2gHz, 1024mb RAM and GeForce 6600 GT 128mb and I got smooth framerates when I played the demo with 1280x1024 resolution high deatils on (I didn't have motion blur on though)
