Solved: 8 Years, 1 Month ago Exclamation  POOR framerate (7950GT, 2GB RAM)

Greetings.

I recently bought this game (from Humble Indie Bundle V) but I can not play it.
The framerate is extremely low (I can barely move the cursor) and at the beginning, rather than the detailed room with background rain, I get an almost black room with only something like windows and footprints.
I lowered the graphics settings and resolutions... but the issue remains about the same.

My Computer:

· Intel® Core™2 CPU 6600 @ 2.40GHz
· nVidia 7950 GT (295.49, driver updated)
· 2 Gb of RAM
· Only one screen (so not Xinerama)
· KDE with all effects off

Can you help me?

can you paste the contents of the hpl.log file (located in ~/.frictionalgames/Amnesia/Main/hpl.log ) it looks as if your GL drivers aren't setup correctly. Also include the output of glxinfo.

Multiple Macs running 10.6, 10.7, 10.8, and 10.9.
Linux, 8-core AMD, 8GB RAM, Fedora 18, nVidia 450 1GB

Thanks for your help.

Attached in this post are hpl.log (800x600 / 1280x1024) and the output of glxinfo (as a file).
This morning I tested the game on the computer of a friend (almost the same
machine, only difference is the HDD space)... and the game ran fantastic
with medium level of detail and a resolution of 1280x1024 fullscreen!

Definitely there is something that does not fit in my system...

.txt   glxinfo.txt (Size: 30.04 KB / Downloads: 142)

Finally the issue was related to nVidia latest drivers (all the last 10~ versions).

In the end I sent an e-mail to nVidia bug report address.
After a few mails of testing, finally they replied that were able to reproduce the issue and fix it.
And that the fix will be shipped in an upcoming driver release.

And now finally the new driver is out and in the changes it says:
· Fixed a bug that would cause corruption and performance issues in
certain OpenGL applications such as Amnesia: The Dark Descent on GeForce
6 and 7 GPUs.

Kudos for nVidia and his fast reaction. Now the game works at his mighty quality.
Greetings!

HAHA Nice!!.. I'm glad you got them to fix the bug.
Which version of the drivers did you have to upgrade to ?
