Thanks jens for supplying an answer!

Anyway; does anyone know the name of an object that can record sound, and transfer it to a PC?

Kind of like a digital tape recorder :/

I'd look around http://www.tascam.com or http://www.fostexusa.com.
I know my school is looking to replace our DAT recorders with these http://www.fostexusa.com/index.php?file=.../pfr/fr2le.
