Amnesia frame rate drops and LAG.

If you have steam, do a file verification check (by right clicking the game I think). Did you by any chance started playing the game, then it updated and then you continued playing after some time? That's because old save games are not compatible with the latest Amnesia update of April 2011 (v1.2) and so this might cause issues.
