Just so you know the elevator they use in the original amnesia is actually static and it's the background that's moving giving the illusion of the elevator going down. You can though change the Elevator to a entity and then use a piston to move it up and down as you wish (it can be a bit tricky) but I know there's a tutorial on the wiki or here on the forum can't remember exactly
