Solved: 8 Years, 2 Months ago How exactly to enable surround sound for titanium x-fi? 5.1/7.1?

Hello; I have a creative x-fi titanium and am confused as to what exactly I need to do to get surround sound working.

For example:
1. Do I need creative alchemy? (and if so, what settings?)
2. Do I need "soft_aol.dll "?
3. Is it possible to get 7.1? If so, how? Or, is only 5.1 available?

I just want someone to set the record straight for me because even after reading all of these threads dealing with openal (which is mostly over my head), I'm still pretty confused as to what steps I need to take to get 5.1 surround sound working for me.

Also, how will I know when surround sound is working properly? If it's working, should the menu screen music be coming out of my rear/side speakers? Or do I need to find an environment noise and turn my back to it?

Update: 5.1 seems to be working whenever I use either "Generic Hardware on Speakers (Creative SB X-Fi) or "XB X-Fi Audio [0001](OpenAL default)". Which one should I be using?

And again, is 7.1 possible? Nothing comes out of my rear speakers while playing and it'd be nice to have them in the mix too..
