Penumbra doesn't work with the "evdev" driver
If you change it to kbd in xorg.conf everything should be fine.
Hope it will be fixed soon.

Ah I see. Well I'm using a recent X11 with no xorg.conf (almost) so I don't want to meddle with it. Would be nice with a fix, instead.
