How do you add custom music/sounds?

I've found a few sounds and music pieces that I thought would be perfect for the conversion mod I'm working on. Now, I cannot get it to work in game. Most people says put ogg.files in the folder "sounds". Don't work for me exactly. Could somebody give me a quick guide about this?
