So, you're saying that bright spots on the ceiling or unlit blotches are gamma or screenshot issues?

Why,yes. Not the spots themselves, but the contrast between them may very well look far worse on this screenshot than it does in the actual game. Likewise, the black parts might have a nice ambient light on them that just isn't visible on the screenies due to the problems mentioned. So personally, I'll just keep my mouth shut until I have the actual game in front of me.

Also, I dunno...somehow this overly critical stance just irks me, on a purely emotional level. It's like there's just no pleasing the Frictional fanbase! If they don't release anything for five minutes, everyone whines that they don't care about their fans, if they release something, the first thing they hear is either "it's not enough" or "it looks like arse". If I was working for Frictional or TCR, I'd be really fed up by now and my motivation to finish this game would be somewhere near zero.

Maybe I don't know a lot about gamma, but it just didn't seem that way to me. At least, raising the gamma on my monitor didn't do much. But in any case, I thought it only natural to base my opinion on what I saw. It never really came to my mind that the screenshot might not represent the actual level - why second guess?

And what irks me, on the contrary, is this overly critical stance on critical stances. I gave honest feedback and in my vision, my post was both reasonable and polite, not degrading or offensive in any way. And it really upset me when I saw people responding the way they did, as if I or some other members had done something wrong and only posted out of spite/arrogance/you-name-it. That we disrespected the hardworking TCR and that we should feel bad for it.

I don't know, but my gut tells me that we, the fans, are the only ones who are so high-strung here. For FG and TCR, I feel, this is much simpler. Persistent negative feedback means something needs reevaluation, lots of positive feedback means all is good. Done, period.

Maybe think about it this way: in the event that it is gamma that gives the wrong impression, is there really a reason for TCR to be upset? They know it's just the gamma. Sooner or later the people who criticized the lighting will play the game, and then they will see how foolish they were!! ... or something like that. If the level really looks like the screenshot, well, then they have just gotten feedback from the community and can use it to their advantage!

In conclusion, I think that this whole argument is more about issues people have with other people than FG or TCR. Maybe we should just all stay honest and true to ourselves, not try to criticize other people.
