Game unable to load from steam

If I could let me begin by saying I have had this game for almost 4 months and it has always played fine until today (although I have made absolutely no changes to my computer). I decided to start my game today and upon doing so I got the fatal error for no sound devices. I went through the process of following the stickies and getting the openal32.dll put in as well as openal-soft. After I put them in the game would say loading, my mouse would move to the top left of the screen, and nothing would happen. Finally, I deleted "launcher" in the documents folder and changed the .exe file to launcher. At this point the game loaded to a black screen with a red border for about 10-15 seconds and closed. I'm at a loss. Any help I could get would be greatly appreciated.
