It's more that the Intel chips aren't officially support for Amnesia.. Yes users have gotten some chips working.. Really 99% of the issues stem around S3TC not being enabled correctly.. However since your machine is showing it as enabled, it seems there is something else awry with the newer Mesa you are running.. I would suggest getting a GDB stacktrace of the crash so I can see more on where it is crashing.
