So the WAU did indeed build the Vivarium, via taking over the helpers and assembling it from a Lumar and Robot parts. It's very interesting how 2 years on after the initial teasers (back in 2013! whoa) the continuity holds up. Don Thacker is a boss. Even the little detail of Reed having a seizure and her then falling over in the simulation worked as both continuity and character building elements. I'm way more impressed by this series than I thought I was going to be, even after 99% of the mysterious elements have been answered.
