You know most people are surprised by how goddamn chill actual emo is.

Most people associate it with Metalcore/Deathcore now thats why... And kids who want to be the cool emo kid pretend to like it.

Fucking.

Scene kids.

But yeah I know exactly what you're talking about. It's sad how many people dismiss the entire genre because of the social stigma surrounding it and because of the misconception that so many people have for what emo music really is. Honestly though, American Football, Cap n' Jazz, Empire! Empire! (I Was a Lonely Estate) and other bands that play that same sort of style play some incredibly soothing stuff, usually very heavily jazz inspired actually. It's just a shame to see people dismiss it so easily when a lot of them would probably actually enjoy it.
