You are a man named Robert Lightwood. You are having personal problems, such as depression, for an unknown reason. Your wife, Maryse Lightwood, goes on a trip to somewhere in the desert, and she dies along the way. She gives you most the things she owns in her will, including a strange artifact she found in the desert. You keep it, and strange things start happening. Such as voices telling you to "Throw it away," or "Give it to me." You ignore them, and keep living, or trying to. You are then taking a nice stroll down an abandoned road when you hear something in the bushes. You get weak from fear and fall to the floor. The world goes dark and something slaps you on the head. You wake in a cell and the story begins.

I do not plan to open up the Dark Storage ever again, so do not try. The Dark Storage has been filled by rocks and the walls have caved in. Please do not try to get in. -Jace

(Date is absent)[br][br]Despite our best efforts, we have lost nearly all our patients to this illness. The illness struck this small village quietly, showing only the symptoms of a common cold in the body of a young man in his late twenties. Gradually, we saw flesh decaying as the ailment advanced. We were left with patients who no longer acted or looked 'normal' at times, and many were left to 'die', quarantined behind bars. Today's earthquake destroyed much of the village's houses, while this illness has killed much of the village people. Thirteen patients still remain, being a mix of villagers and my colleagues breathing their last, with none fit for travel. Perhaps it is best that we who remain soon leave this area and head for the better equipped institutions to the north with our current research and samples. I fear that this ailment will become a cloud of darkness above our land.

Conduct With Quarantined Patients

Remember that patients are subject to a 'sway' of periods of activity where they are conscious and passive and periods of activity where they are unconscious and violent. Take caution with knowing when each patient is in which period, and if a calm patient suddenly shows signs of entering the danger period, leave temporarily until the wave has subsided. Also, do not forget proper medical procedure. While the disease is not airborne, it can infect by other means. The far patient in the hall, the first victim, has been shown to have cannibalistic behavior in his violent period. Take care not to be his next meal, we are understaffed as it is.
