There atleast needs to be a bit of both. Both jump scares and legit scares, if you keep on doing jump scares you will just be pissing the player off and the more you do it the more old it gets and the player start predicting those. Doing mostly legit scares for awhile and then a quick jump scare here and there would keep the player on their edge, scared shitless.

again, i have to agree. jump scares are fine if you space them out, but i'd say if you are using more than... oh i don't know like 1 every map then it just gets annoying. you have to space them out and include some actual legit scares if you want jump scares to stay fresh and not annoying. otherwise people just be expecting them and when they come most people will just think "oh great, another one." and move on.

*facepalm* we're trying to HELP YOU. do you not get that? we're not just bashing on your story because we can, we actually want you to IMPROVE. what you're basically saying is "sorry but, i don't want to make my custom stories better, i just want to be stuck it a repetitious rut of jump scares and graphical glitches". seriously, if you want to improve you should actually listen to people when they give you constructive criticism.

Sorry Skashi, i don't mean to hate but i kinda have to agree with kman and Arvuti. Sure jump scares are good at first but after a while, it's kinda easy to predict them. You should try to mix it up in House of creep 3. Go for some genuine scares and jump scares. Don't make things jump out at you. An good Custom Story has to use all sense. Use sounds, make players see things that doesn't belong, music, make the player experience fear. Do what i said, and your CS should be better and less people will hate.

Not to sound like a prick but as with everyone saying its all jumpscares... I don't think I want to play this. As kman said, it's good spaced apart, but me personally, if jumpscares are repetitive, I get a little more pissed/annoyed than scared. Then I quit because more effort was put into the scares than the story. I love a little bit of story, with a good dash of horror. As well as PUZZLES, not a game of hide-n-seek with keys... I apologize for not giving it a chance, but feedback is a very important part of making custom campaigns. If you can't take the criticism, don't upload your work. Or in a better scenario, take the advice! There is NOTHING wrong with having others help you... Just remember, if you're planning to have a big name on yourself, take the time to experiment with the advice and responses you get from the community. We're not saying it's a piece of shit. We're trying to help you improve. But again, if you don't want the critiquing, don't share your work, you know?


But if you're into just jumpscares, I'm not going to change your technique, all I'm saying is don't expect to get tons of credit like some of us who have/are spending months on ONE story. For Christ's sake, I've been modelling for the past month. I'm dying over here, and I still have 3 more new monsters to make from scratch, along with the 4 I've already made. Damn straight broski, 7 new monsters in my campaign...
