Thanks for the suggestions, I'll take them into account c:

Your Images:
I like the colour contrast between the forest and the house, but the forest fog and boxlight are waaaaaaaaaaaaay too green. Try making it more of a grey-blue tone, since it's night-time. The saturation looks really unnatural - and not in a good way.

Like RobbySproggy said, the trees need to be more randomized. To get them to look more natural and random, randomize the scale and rotation of the trees, then disable grid snapping (the red magnet).

Thank you very much! It turns out I accidentally duplicated the boxlight, so it was twice as bright as it was supposed to be.

I think the lighting to the left in the image is nice. The luminescent(?) shrooms have, in my opinion, a too light effect on the room as a whole. An image from a wiki article:

Well, those shrooms you have basically light the whole room Smile I'd say have them make a local small light for each shroom and a larger, darker (green) light for the whole room. Fungi also tend to grow in wet areas, something which you can use to increase 'the coolness of how your room looks'.

Make a separate rock entity; duplicate the files and go into the specular file for the rock surface. Add 'waterpools' with a strong red+green intensity in the specular maps to simulate water on the rocks. They will look wet (parts of them) and probably reflect the light from the shrooms in a nice way. Secondly you could add a reflective water surface under the rocks, which could be made by modifying the texture of the 'water pool decal static object thing'. That pool of water would mirror the glowing shrooms above (adding awesome points!).

After that you could add some particle effects - fog and airdust to show the moist in the air from the watered room.

If the above sounds nice, but the execution sounds like mumbo-jumbo I could help you modify the assets required - as that should be fairly quick work. Smile

Old:

New:

What I changed:
- Made planks on shed more sporadically placed
- Added variations of trees
- Made floor more realistic
- Changed fog/sky
- Changed lighting

How should I improve it further? Also, the lighting in this picture doesn't truly represent the real lighting. I had to crank up the brightness to be able to see anything in the screenshot.

I was pretty much referring to you.

Still your lighting is shit (no offence) but it needs work. If that is what you are doing.

Crits I have to ask you to keep your posts civil, because at the current state they're in they're very close to teetering off the edge.

Okay, my man, where do you want to go with that comment? I really don't understand how it would make any of us look better, or how it can make me improve my "shit lighting" in any way, which is basically what this thread is for. Helping each other to improve.

If you think it's bad, tell me what's wrong with it and how I can improve it. That might be useful. But these small statements are just dumb.
