Solved: 8 Years, 1 Month, 3 Weeks ago Amnesia--Severe Fraps lag

Hello all, I just recently downloaded the demo for Amnesia: The Dark Descent, and it runs very smooth on high specs, getting 60 or more frames per second. I decided to record gameplay of the demo with Fraps to see my reactions after I've finished the demo, and if that went well, I'd buy the full version of the game and do a "Let's Play" type of thing. However, when I start recording, the frames drop from 60 all the way down to 10, which is basically unplayable. I've tried putting the resolution and other graphics options to the lowest possible settings and still no luck, it still runs at 10 frames while recording. There are no background programs running, just Fraps and Amnesia is all. I even tried using an external hard drive, having Fraps run from and record to the external one while Amnesia ran from the main C Drive, and that didn't help at all either. I haven't found any other threads where somebody is experiencing the same problem as me, so I'm at a loss...

My PC Specs are as follows:
- NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560 Ti GPU
- AMD FX-4100 3.60 GHz Quad-core Processor
- 8 GB DDR3 RAM
- Windows 7 64-bit OS

Anyway, I have no clue what to do, so any input would be very much appreciated!

Which version of Fraps are you using? Fraps was updated for OpenGL a while ago. Also check Vsync settings too from both game and driver.

I'm using version 3.4.0 of Fraps. As for the vsync settings, its on in the game, but I can't find any way of checking it from the driver. I'm looking in display settings, should I be looking somewhere else?

Fraps fixed OpenGL issues at version 3.4.2 so most probably you need to update it first to the latest version available.

I experience same issue, but more light. Fraps is locked at around 30 fps for me, sometimes I get drops, not sure if its because of the custom map or the fact that I'm recording with fraps.

Specs:
Intel i5-2500k
GTX 560 Ti
16 GB DRR3 RAM
64-bit win 7

Although there is a new update out for the 560 Ti which I haven't installed yet, and haven't updated my fraps. I will check it Smile

Ok, I updated Fraps to 3.4.7 and installed the most recent driver for my GPU, and the problem still persists.

Did you try to run amnesia in a window instead?

Running it in a window does not help either.

I did some research, and it turns out that the 400 series graphics cards from NVIDIA had trouble running OpenGL programs, so it's suggested that the 500 series could have the same problem. I'll download the latest OpenGL drivers for the GTX 560 Ti and report back with the results!
No luck... I thought the GTX 560 Ti was supposed to be a monster of a GPU. Didn't really see this coming. I guess I'll have to purchase a new graphics card, unless anybody has a miraculous solution or something that they think has a remote chance of working.

Not at all, I have both a GTX 460 OC and a laptop GT 540M. They have absolutely no problems with OpenGL.
