Exclamation  3ds max or Maya?

I really want to model for Amnesia - the Dark Descent.

And I found these two 3d modelers.

I would like to know which is better for modeling Amnesia.
I am mainly going to work on custom Enemies.

3ds Max?
Or
Maya?

The issue is more on what happens after export, not whether or not one is better at modeling than the other. Those using 3DS Max have complained more than those using Maya, so Maya appears to be better for exporting to DAE format.

Simply installing the OpenCollada exporter for 3Ds max solved all those problems though, so it's really just a matter of taste, personally I get a better workflow from working with Max.

I think the only time you run into trouble is when exporting skeletons. I'm sure I heared 3ds/Blender running into trouble with that. I use Maya simply because I had some issues with 3ds (I think it was my graphics card). Both are good though.

Yeah the same goes for Maya. If you don't install the appropriate plug-in you'll likely run into issues when exporting.

Personally I like 3DS Max, simply because I actually learned more about 3DS Max in a single "spiel session" with Traggey than I did about Maya in months of using it on my own (but on rare occasions and for very primitive tasks.)

After more than one year working with each I can say that MAX gives you less trouble and the work flows a lot better in MAX. Maya might be better when working with surfaces and other stuff such as physics simulation and hair, but MAX is probably better with polygons.

Okay I got Autodesk Maya 2012.

I find it easy to use, but I need tutorials on adding custom textures to models. and rigging the body parts.

Find a modeling community and get the tutorials there. It's a lot easier. You can't expect us to give you everything.

My vote goes to Maya (surprise!) :>

I do not have enough modeling experience to comment on a Maya vs 3DS max.
