Mac OS X version now for sale

I am pleased to announce that the Mac OS X version of Penumbra is now for sale from the Penumbra Overture Store!.

You can also download the demo from the Penumbra Overture Demo Page.

Processor Requirements are a 1.5GHz G4 or better, or any Mac with an Intel Core processor.
Minimum Video Card requirements are an ATI Radeon 9600 or a Geforce 4 (Geforce 4 MX is not supported).

Unfortunately Embedded Intel Graphics cards are NOT supported, except the X3100 which is reported to work.
(Sorry mac mini intel users and some macbook users).

I do apologize for the duration of time getting this released for the Mac. However I will start working on Black Plague Next week and the Linux and Mac versions of Black Plague will come significantly closer to the Windows release.

Developing away on one of
Multiple Macs running 10.6, 10.7, 10.8, and 10.9.
Linux, 8-core AMD, 8GB RAM, Fedora 18, nVidia 450 1GB

It seems that Intels latest embedded offering the X3100 actually works with the game Smile

Meaning that at least the current line of MacBooks can run the game!

RE: Mac OS X version now for sale

hi there! First post, just joined. Just wanted to say that i'll be buying this sometime this week, just downloaded the demo. Excellent game from what I've quickly seen (my time is limited on the Mac these days with having a baby.. sigh.. ;-) lol)

Couldn't get it to work at my monitors default of 1680x1050 but i admit to not looking into the prefs too much.

Anyhow - GREAT GAME!!!! Big Grin

RE: Mac OS X version now for sale

Ah yes! Thank you for the port to mac os x! I bought the game last night and started to play it today. But, the second time i step into what i think is the office, the game just crashes, and quits. I don't know what is doing it, but it might be the sound from the door right in front of me. I didn't hear it the second time... I own a new macbook pro.

EDIT: Ok I was wrong, its the storage room in wich the game crashes... And i did hear the sound this time...

RE: Mac OS X version now for sale

I seem to have wasted my money on this game. I own a new Mac Pro, with 8 GBs of RAM and an ATI X1900 graphics card, and Penumbra keeps freezing and crashing, necessitating a reboot. This usually occurs after about 15 minutes of play.

Frictional Games has yet to issue any patches or upgrades for Mac users, and have yet to respond to my queries and complaints. Save your money.

Overture demo appears to work perfectly on a X3100 MacBook! I can even enable shadows and noise effect to get decent atmosphere.

Well done!
