Editing an entities texture

Hey all!

So, I just converted my first custom model from a decal to an .ent, but and I am wondering if anyone knows how to take the entity, and change the color from one solid color, to another. More specifically, how to make it from brown to red. Any help ASAP would be amazing, and if you can help, you will get a credit slot.

RE: Editing an entities texture

You mean like opening the texture file in ms pain (or gimp/photoshop if it's a dds) and re-coloring it? ._.

Or did you just color it some solid color without applying a texture?

Bump-

Sorry guys, but this is really important, and I am sure its a simple solution that someone has. Please, if someone can just tell me how to change the color from brown to red of an entity... pretty much, how to re-texture an entity.

Edit the .dae file and change the path of the texture. Make sure the custom texture has its own material file.

Still unsolved. Does anyone have something close to a solution? I mean, there are tons of modelers out there... someone has to be able to help with this!

RE: Editing an entities texture

To change the path of the texture open the .dae in a text editor and then find the
<library_images>
<image id="file1" name="file1">
<init_from>file:///E:/lux/redist/entities/bottle/amnesia/amnesia_bottle.dds</init_from>

and change the bolded part to where ever you have the texture.

atleast this is what I think you do Smile

RE: Editing an entities texture

Okay, thanks. The second part, I am no artist, how can I create that new texture. Really here is the situation:

I made the muddy footprints an entity, but they are brown, and I want them to be red, and you can't change the color within the editor, so I am just wondering how to change the texture from brown to red. How do I create a .dae? Or, if someone has a few mins free, would they be willing to do it for me with a credit slot at the end of the story?

Thanks in advance.

RE: Editing an entities texture

You need photoshop or gimp with the responding dds plugin and then you open it and change the color. And save it as a .dds and then you change the .dae so it uses the .dds file Smile But remember to use another name on the files so it's not named the same as the original since it will create conflict. Smile

sure I can help if you want Smile
