RE: Penumbra: Black Plague Demo is finally out!

I suck. I can't even get past the damn pipe with the freezing vapor. I've found the thermostat of course but I can't find any way to operate it.

EDIT: Unrelated, but it's good this laptop I bought can more or less run the game at a reasonable level of performance. The card isn't that powerful (Intel X3100), which is why I'll be interested in seeing the Linux demo; it might even run a bit faster than it does in Vista.

Oh ha ha. Smile

For the record, this is one of the better mobile graphics chipsets Intel have produced. The only other problem is that if I try running the game using "Very High" shaders, the textures have weird colors. It's particularly noticeable on the bed in the opening room. Other than that, a little fooling around with the options and it's quiet fine.

http://www.intel.com/products/chipsets/GM965/index.htm

Why are people asking more about the Intel chipset than the demo? Is this a revelation or something? Smile

Remember, the frame rate isn't that amazing in Vista, but it's doable... which is why I'm interested to see how it performs in Ubuntu. I still want to know about that thermo though! Big Grin

BTW, game looks pretty darned good, and runs super smooth. I'm guessing that part of this is because the "levels" are so ridiculously small.. but, out of curiosity, is there some way to benchmark?

(and how the hell do you get through after you pick up the thing and then that bad guy comes after you)
