damn it, you're right. sorry for my incompetence.
mmh, never thought about that. i personally don't really care about that, but if you want it to fade black, just open the script-files of all maps, take search & replace, and change the important parts, so you get a black fade, instead of white. should be possible. or just forget about those things, i personally never heard anyone complaining about this.
Actually the flashbacks are handled by flashback areas, being activated when the player contacts one of them. The .hps file doesn't handle the flashing. The white flashing I believe is in the source code, so if you want to remove the flashback whiteness all I can think to do is remove the flashback entirely.
i'm not sure, i never scripted that much yet, so it was just an idea, but yeah, you're right. there my incompetence striked again! yay.

Working on a full conv.-mod, first pictures coming soon...

Illegible grammar.
ಠ益ಠ

On Topic: I think the point of the flash is to act like your mind spikes in pain (like it does in my fanfic) and you remember something from the past.

As of September 2nd, 2014, I've left the Frictional forums. Check my profile for more details.

guys! You are loosing the subject. It is not so much important, if that effect is because of flashbacks, or because "it's helping me to take a breath", or because "it's makes a pain, and its increase bond with player

the most importat thing here, IS that - IF YOU are playing at night, on a big lcd, without lights in your room, in a game, which has dark colour pallete, then that kind of fades makes you feel eyes ache. it is killing a whole climate/atmosphere.

One, two fades for 10-15minutes is okay, but few fades in few minutes? Believe me - in amnesia, on the begining it wasn't any problem with that fades for me, but form the middle/half of game, that effect was annoying, painful, and it makes me angry all the time

First: that fade to white, shout be faster (If frictional games was thinking about flashback effects - then fade should be faster, almost like flash, not that slow as is now)

Second: they are useing this effect too often, sometimes few fades in each few minutes. result?- surfeit, aversion

Third: if frequency and speed of that effect cannot be changed, then fade colour sould be changed. For exaple fade to gray, or black.

and please remember about what is, this discussion.

Well, there's not much to say on topic... I don't see the problem, I never had any problem with the effect when I played Amnesia (in a dark room, no lights etc) Sure, me eyes hurt a wee bit but that'd just keep me alert and sustain that uneasy atmospheric feeling. As previosluey mentioned, I think it's a nice way to give the player flashbacks.
