you know, this is the one thing i hate about pre-ordering games, waiting for them to get to the store!

yes, ive got it for PC, its the only acceptable platform for a game that is quite old fashioned in my opinion, and some reviews of dishounoured have said "refreshingly old fashioned and challenging", and yes, i will be playing on hard. ill do 3 run trhoughs. all with all sidequests. 1. give them hell (all action) 2, adaptive (sneak, but give hell when spotted) and 3,. pure stealth (get spotted reload). should give me plenty of moneys worth out of the game indeed that way.
All multiplatform and pure PC games have control customization nowadays; it's been around for decades. Only ports and really prototypical games usually don't have the option (except of course for games that don't really need custom controls, like point&click games, which usually have customizable binds anyway).

It looks nice. When I saw that second screenshot I was like "Advance, my pretties - ADVANCE!" It just came out on Steam and I took a look at TotalBiscuit's video on it and I can safely say it looks great.

As of September 2nd, 2014, I've left the Frictional forums. Check my profile for more details.

Actually, Bethesda is only the publisher, so its hard to say how much influence they have on the game mechanics. The developer is Arkane studios, who previously made Arx Fatalis (An amazing but incredibly buggy game that unfortunately is almost impossible to play on windows 7) and Dark Messiah of Might and Magic. (Didn't play that one) They were also responsible for most of the art for Bioshock 2.

Actually if memory serves me right, mana will always regenerate up untila small amount regardless of difficulty...just enough for low cost powers like dark vision, and blink, making them essentially free.

RE: Dishonored - Early Review

@ Bridge, i know that key rebind has been with pc a long time, i mean, it dates back at least to wolfenstein 3d, maybe even before that, but i only started gaming in '91, its just, as you pointed out, many Multplatform games are developed on the console. and that leads to problems in my experience.

seeing as many games now are aimed for the "lowest common denominator" to give maximum profits, they are just ported to the PC straight from the console as it helps the publisher maximise the profit as the spend only a minimal amount of time and money on the port, that results in the kind of port that results in the very reason why many PC gamers hate console gamers. games that have No Anti Aliasing on the graphics, muddy textures, low quality sounds, are incredibly easy, and worst of all, dont have key rebind, and i am kind of sick of going into my local gameshop to buy a game, on pc, to be told that "its not a good port, there is no AA, and it doesnt have key rebind" meaning i have to get it on console.

@ Hirnwirbel, i know bethesoft are the publisher, i just also know that bethesoft specialise in publishing RPG games and have a reputation for great RPG mechanics in the games they publish, heck, in a lot of even the most Scything reviews of "rage" (one of wich gave it a 0/10, a score i agree with as the game made me sick for reasons we all know) the one thing it was praised on was "excellent RPG mechanics",. so, although bethesoft has probably left arkane to make the game they want to, i cant see bethesofts management letting it out of the shop with sloppy RPG mechanics as that would Ruin there reputation for publishing great RPG games because, in todays industry, you are only as good as the last game you published. Arx Fatilis did have a few bugs i agree, a shame as it had massive promise, dark messiah of might and magic is pretty much the same, with less bugs, but has issues with win 7 as well, hence why i have a dual OS on my pc.

@kreekaron, i will tolerate a little bit of mana regen, sure, i will moan like heck, because it offends me because i feel patronised, because as far as i am concerned mechanics like that should Only be present on the console version, were the market in general tends to be younger, more aggressive, and a lot less experienced than the PC market in general, but i will tolerate it, its when the whole bar regenerates, that i explode because it makes a game Pathetically easy, and that is something i have never tolerated because i think it makes gaming look like a joke. a litttle bit is ok. it still means the game will be challenging, but, its not quite as challenging as i like... (no regen). ah well, perhaps im being too elitist...

I'll never understand why you do it to yourself

You've already established you pretty much hate every single modern game out there because of some aspect of it's gameplay mechanics that pretty much(from the way you're ranting about it) ruins it for you, so why not just do yourself a favor and stick to your old school games let the rest of us enjoy our modern games in peace?

Well apart from the whole mandatory UAC thing. But I agree, it's excellent.

I know windows 7 is amazing, but it's 100 or so dollars in addition to the cost of the game. At least I know i'll be getting my money's worth!

I rate it 3 memes.
