Absolutely,no! Seeing the flintlock as a decor will still make the player to think;
"HOLY SHIET! A GUN! FINALLY I CAN KILL MONSTERS!"
Although, the player will be dissapointed when he/she founds out it can't be hold, or picked.

It still makes the player to think that stuff. And besides (if i'm correct.(, bulletproof glasses weren't exist in the 19th century, as nobody invented them. Heck, bulletproof suits are not even invented yet!

Solution: Just make it broken to pieces. This will loose some of that little flame of hope in the player's heart.

I know that a weapon of any kind would somewhat ruin it, but it wouldn't be interactable and sure you can put it in a glass display case of sorts.

However there might be the problem of another modeller taking the model and make it interactable, then I would agree with you that a gun would completely ruin the game.
