Personally, I think he may be a priest

Actually I am thinking more of glossolalia, as I explained when I edited my post. Smile
This type of "speaking" is used in many faiths, including Shamanism. Aztecs and Mayans practised shamanistic rituals so there might be some sort of connection.

And no, he's not speaking Spanish or Nahuatl (Aztec).

lol hold to your horses, not need to be aggressive.

in the church we get notes written by priest jeremiah, probably the one in charge of that church. considering how the charge looked i'd say Mandus "redecorated" it or that God influenced it somehow. so it's likely that priest was affected too or that Mandus tortured him or something. and now he is screaming a prayer of some sort.

No need to beat around the bush. Let's just get to the relevant stuff. Wink

It's annoying that these "incidental" characters aren't provided with subtitles, then we could simply look through the english.lang file for their scripts.

That said, I'm 90% sure Ashtoreth is right; the character is speaking in tongues. Even the filename supports this. People who speak in tongues tend to sound similar, even though it's a made-up language, and this guy fits the bill in that respect.

If that's the case I'd love to know what the voice actor was given to read, or what "motivations" he was provided with. And I'd love to know how many takes there were before they settled on this one!

No it can't be Greek. While playing it I didn't understand a singe thing. And no, it's not me! Tongue I wish! Smile But I'm also interested on what that guy was saying.

Btw, -oulos is used for sirnames and yes indeed it is very common.

Hey all,

Couldn't it be the same language used in the Lovecraft novels to praise Cthullu ? I guess that would make sense in the Amnesia universe.

Hi there,

I don't think it would make sense to use the Cthuvian language. AMFP takes place in 1899 and Cthuvian was invented by Lovecraft much later (in the 1920s if I'm not mistaken).

Big Grin
I don't know, I thought it would be a cool easter egg to have something like that in the game since the Frictional games and especially Amnesia are heavily influenced by Lovecraft^^

Doesn't sound like it though. It sounded like a real language to me.
