However, since Klaus is "in the way" the Peacekeepers have "no choice" but to take him out of the picture. What neither realises is the danger behind the objects they are trying to obtain or destroy, so, while the Peacekeepers are smart, they know not of the powers of the Orb or the Shadow that guards it, they only know about the Servant Grunts.
More to come still Wink

Okay, that plot is precisely the kind of regurgitation I don't want in a sequel. A Machine For Pigs continued a lot of themes from the original game, but distanced itself enough from its precursor that even the handful of references it contains feel a little contrived.

Put it this way - horror is about the unknown, and you're just retreading stuff we've already seen. It doesn't even make sense because the 'Machine' is dead and both Mandus and Daniel's stories are over. The less I hear of them, the orbs, shadows and grunts, the better.

The 'Peacekeeper' idea does make me think of the Archaic from Penumbra, however. A secret society of elites obsessing over the paranormal? That seems to be a recurring theme in Frictional's stories...

Not exclusively paranormal, but also priceless ancient relics and artifacts, as well as things that may be considered dangerous.

Your plot suggestion actually does sound like a custom story idea. If Frictional actually manages to port all of AMFP's elements (including monsters, level props, textures and NPCs), I'd like to see what modders could make with them.

RE: Amnesia 3

OK, I have decided that the Orb and Machine, and the entire
concept of Klaus being a descendant of Daniel and Mandus would be scrapped if
there were to be an Amnesia 3, since they are done with, so let’s get a breath
of originality.

Although the Gameplay Mechanics will be largely the same,
the enemies, known as “The Peacekeepers”, are human, so they will run just as
fast as the player and have the ability to jump and vault over obstacles in
order to get in range to attack the player. It will also be easier for them to
“find” the player since they are “smart” as humans, so crouching in the
darkness would no longer work.

There won’t just be The Peacekeepers to worry about,
however. There will also be humans that were captured and tested on by the
organisation that were “in the way” in the past. They will still have human
features, and the overall structure, but they have little humanity about them,
and they will be a bit more bestial in appearance than The Peacekeepers.

Klaus [insert random last name here] was an archaeologist,
who finds an ancient artefact with incredible value, but finds out very quickly
that there is something about the artefact that seems to cause memory loss.
When he tries to smash it on the ground, it doesn’t break despite its fragile
appearance. Rather, when it hits the ground, it causes him to lose a lot of his
memory.

But there is a side-affect, he is given memories that are
not his own. Memories of torturing and killing people he didn’t even know the
names of. When he awakes, he believes that his name is Michael [insert another
random last name here], who actually happens to be the Peacekeeper in charge of
bringing the artefact to the main headquarters, but tried to keep it from the
base after discovering its power.

So, naturally “Michael” decides to keep it from The
Peacekeepers to prevent them from destroying themselves. They don’t take it too
well, thinking that he just wants to reap the “benefits” (although there are
clearly none, they don’t know). Along the way, Klaus starts to regain his own
memories, but is still haunted by the memories of Michael, which had created an
alter-ego for Klaus, so his mind becomes very unstable, as two wills fight for
control over the body.

Michael wants to keep the artefact from them to prevent them
from destroying themselves, while Klaus isn’t so remorseful, saying: “Let them
destroy themselves. As long as the madness ends, I care not what happens to
them.”

Does that sound better? I still don’t know what the
artefact, or when the setting of the events should be, yet, but I am sure we
can figure out something amongst ourselves. Gee, it just makes me want to make
this game.

:EDIT: Dunno what happened with the formatting there, lol XD

RE: Amnesia 3

Personally, if I could, I would drag my ass over to FG and tell them I'll do it LOL

Seriously though, I'm very sad to see that they're no longer interested in making another Amnesia game. If they were to make one, I wouldn't want it to be some cheap shot at trying to please people who that AMFP sucked. I'd like it to be a mixture of terror and the amazing storytelling AMFP had.

I can't say I loved TDD much when I played it, you can predict the monsters very easily after a while, and it lost its terror appeal after you figure out you can just run to a level door or turn the corner and face the wall. What I loved about pigs was that, there really was no hiding or slamming a door and facing a corner.

Once that pig saw you, you had to RUN. The only disappointing aspect of AMFP was that there was no challenge when it came to working around the pigs, you only get seriously chased a few times. But I do love how the game proceeds to tease you, and the atmosphere was phenomenal. Very eerie, kept you on your toes.

If there ever was an Amnesia three, who's to say it shouldn't be by the fans who'd never want to see it die? And with a general consensus of people who adore the games, adding what they think would be frightening or disturbing, who knows what we could cook up.

A man can dream...Baha.

Well, aren't you just suggesting a professional custom story that wasn't made by The Chinese Room? :p
