Yeah, I can't load some custom models. The modelview and Model Editor crashes immediately. The custom models work on other people. Whats wrong with my editors, do I need to fix something? I doubt it's the model files.

RE: I can't load some dae. files in Model Editor

What 3d modeling software are you using?

If your using Maya/3Ds, make sure you have a material assigned to your model before exporting. (You may need to look up tutorials on how to do that yourself)

//*****

If you're using Blender, the same thing applies. But when you do "File > Export > Collada.dae" their are some less than noticeable optimal options on the far bottom-left side.

Make sure under the "Export Data Options" tab, that the "Selection Only" is checked on. (Make sure you only have the model that you want to export, is selected also!)

And in the "Texture Options:" below, the "Include Material Textures" is checked on.

(Only applies to Blender!)
I circled the two spots because this will determine what the "CustomModel.mat" file will be named, it's one of the two and I just got into a habit into naming both the same.

You said "The custom models work on other people.", do you mean that you have given your model out to others for testing and they report all green?

I have Maya. Does it work with Milkshape too?
I tried other 100% working .dae files from other peoples custom models and the Model Editor/Modelview still crashed when loading it. But just some of them.

Could you please give us more details about your errors? Posting your ModelEditor.log in Documents/HPL2 will help us see the error (upload the log right after making the editor crash)

It's possible that you have to update your Amnesia: This update is still being tested, but maybe it fixes your issues:

The WARNING: No 'extra scene' element found! error is common when dealing with models with bones (monsters or animated stuff)

RE: I can't load some dae. files in Model Editor

I have replaced everything. Then I tried the ModelView131111 but also the normal ModelView and I still have the same problem.

Another question. What if I finish a custom story and someone doesn't updated it? Does the story still work for everyone?

RE: I can't load some dae. files in Model Editor

Alright so first off, no, Milkshape won't work, jebus that's the software I used back when modding WC3, why are you still using that old hunk? XD

Anypoops, if you have a pirated verision of the game, shit won't work, just to get that out there in the first place.

Now seing as you're not able to provide much information on the issue ( It seems you're new to the whole modeling thing ) I'd like to ask you to upload your not-working model files somewhere, and either share them here in this thread or by sending me a PM with a link to them so that I can have a look at what's going wrong.

RE: I can't load some dae. files in Model Editor

Since Im only using Maya it works now. But the textures in modelview are grey and when I load in in Editor it's pink. I dont get it.

And still: Does anyone need to update their amnesia when playing my story?
