Solved: 8 Years, 1 Month, 4 Weeks ago Amnesia the Dark Descent game crash

Got the game from steam,
I get through the intro, past the gamma settings, and after continuing the game crashes.
I get this small windows error box that says:

"Amnesia.exe has stopped working."

but windows doesn't tell me what's wrong.
I have gone through the Amnesia:TDD troubleshooting guide and graphics card trouble shooting guide.
I have:

Turned off Steam overlay
turned off background applications
Updated graphics card drivers
settings on their lowest possible setting

I heard that the Intel HD GPUs family isn't compatible with this game? I have an Nvidia GeForce GTX860M dedicated graphics card and an Intel HD4600 gpu, in the settings launcher it says that my video device is the Intel HD4600 gpu, can I switch it to the GeForce GTX860M some how?

My Specifications:
Intel i5 processor
Nvidia GTX860M graphics card
12 GB RAM
Intel HD4600 gpu

any help with what could be wrong or potential fixes would be greatly appreciated Smile

The video device is now swtiched to my Nvidia Geforce card in the settings launcher, but it still crashes when I launch the game...
even if I have my Intel gpu disabled in the device manager....
I remember the first time I launched the game from steam I had to make an account for something, but the moment I created it and the game tried to proceed it crashed.
I don't know if that has anything to do with it,
but I have tried a lot of things and can't seem to get it to work...

Do you have any gamepad controllers connected to your laptop via usb or similar? Do you have any such software installed from when you used a controller?

The above beta executable should fix such a crash that users have been having but let's see if you can play the game by manually removing all gamepads (dongles & related software).

I suppose you don't have any programs running in the background like f.lux, fraps or similar, right?

If after removing all gamepad devices + their software the game still crashes please attach the errorlog that the BlackBox is showing (not HPL.log this time).
