Solved: 8 Years, 1 Month ago No sound (Ubuntu 15.04 64-bit, USB headset)

I'm running SOMA on Ubuntu 15.04 64-bit, and when I start the game and reach the main menu, I don't hear any sound. I started a new game, but still nothing. Other than that issue, everything seems to be fine. Things I've tried:

1. Checking volume in the menu (it's maximized)
2. Playing sound through other applications (still working)
3. Restarting Steam and SOMA

My system specs:

Motherboard: MSI P67A-C43
CPU: Intel i5 2500k
Memory: 10GB
Video Card: Nvidia GTX 560 Ti (using proprietary drivers, version 346.59)
Sound Device: Microsoft LifeChat LX-3000

I'd really appreciate any help -- I'm excited to play SOMA!

Have you tried setting the system to output sound through something else? Like regular speakers? Did that work? (To narrow down if sound will work in the game, but perhaps there is a problem with usb sound devices)

In the process of doing this testing, I got it to work over my USB headset. So either this is a heisenbug, or, much more likely, I was doing something phenomenally stupid the first few times.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly!
