RE: coincidence

I believe Graykin was talking about Penumbra, where Phil carries a flashlight.

RE: coincidence

If this is a shout about plagiarism, I'd say that's reaching for straws.

You've got a medieval setting, so a lantern is a pretty logical choice for a mobile light source. The walls are stone/brickwork, which is also highly common. There's a meat locker there - nothing big.

It's like trying to say it's plagiarism that one game features a guy holding a katana while on the roof of a japanese building, and another game did it before. Yeah, it's a katana, it's a japanese building, and it's on the roof. So what?

In other words: Sure, the pictures are similar, but that does not imply plagiarism. Tongue

@Lee: Haha! ;D

That's okay...we can just say it was that pesky mutated AIDS strain. Wink: I guess you forgot your condoms?

And yeah, Lee's clarification on my response is what I was aiming for. Guyra summed up my thoughts fairly well too.

I think you are all ignoring the biggest proof in that they both have 'dark' in the title. I mean, that's undeniably plagiarism right there. It's quite literally (Woah! My brain can't comprehend how fitting that word is) written proof! They didn't even try to cover it up. They could have at least changed it to 'dimly lit' or 'curiously absent of light', I mean, come on!

And that's not even half of it! Did you know that they are both video games? And that they have both been featured in a thread linking their likeness to each other? Coincidence? I think... well... maybe.

RE: coincidence

No no no they stole the idea from this doom3 mod!!!

Dodgy

Tongue:

They didn't stole anything, they maybe were inspired by that game, any game that i know have inspirations from other games or even movies that is the nature of game development.

By the way i saw a gameplay video from that other game and it plays and feels like a old point&click game, the navigation system (camera) on that game was very different to Penumbra or even Amnesia it looked like a 2.5D engine even thou the lantern was casting shadows from the geometry as if they were 3D. All in all it looks interesting also.
