Solved: 8 Years, 1 Month ago Amnesia Unplayable, Video Crash of ATI HD 5770

Hi everyone. I really really would love to play Amnesia, but a problem is coming up for which I have no work around. The only thing I'm sure of is that it has to do with my ATI HD 5770, whose drivers crash at different times depending on my resolution settings.

If I set the resolution of the game to nearly its lowest point (800x600), I am actually able to get past the intro to the game. However, once I'm in the first few rooms, the drivers crash after I've looked around and moved around for about 5-10 seconds.

If I set the resolution to what it should be for my computer (1920 X1080), I don't even make it past the start screen (once the game screen starts to fade into the cave as you start a new game from the title screen). About mid way into the fade, the fade-in stops and the drivers crash.

In the past, I've had problems with shaders in Starcraft 2 portraits and had to disable them as for some reason it did something similar (it completely shut down and rebooted my video card), crashing the game. I am unsure if this is related, however. I've also disabled v-sync, and messed with the settings a bit but I still can't get this game to work. I am running windows 7 with the latest video drivers for the ATI card.

Does anyone have any thoughts that might help? I've posted some dxdiag output below.

Did you download the drivers from the ATI website?

Also try installing them again, first uninstalling the current and rebooting.

Also check A.1.4

try A.1.5 too Big Grin

although it says 5670, they are identical to the 10.1 catalyst beta drivers and work on other cards.
