Amnesia 2

Hello, im new to this forum so im still learning. if im doing something wrong please tell me.

Anyways, i bought Amnesia: The Dark Descent, when it first came out and i really loved it. The game has everything a horror game should have and the story is great. What bothers me is, most the time these kinda games usually dont come in more than 1 part.

My question is if their thinking about making an Amnesia 2. i think it could be a hit since the first was a great hit.

Discuss, do you think there will/should be an Amnesia 2? and why.

Why do people keep thinking there needs to be a sequel? The mystery's already solved and you can't get amnesia again.
It's like Cryostasis or Penumbra. It doesn't need a sequel because the story is already completely finished.

A prequell would be a better idea imo ...

Thing is that with any sequel/prequel/etc is that you'd either have to rely on the person who bought it knowing the original story, or you'd have to spoil it in an opening scene. Neither are great ideas, especially since the story revolves around a big mystery. I'd vouch for, at most, an expansion pack, and it would have to be required for the customer to have a copy of Amnesia on their computer for it to work.

I think they'll sell more copies with a new game though. And a new game allows them to try out new ideas and make that game even more frightening Smile.
So I'm just hoping for a whole new game that looks a bit like Amnesia. Amnesia is quite similar to Penumbra so I think that's what we'll get! An even better horror game that takes the best stuff from Penumbra and Amnesia and adds some new features.
I don't think Frictional will ever try to make their games casual and appeal to the masses. The masses don't like horror anyway and Amnesia is too scary for them :/.

Recent podcast I listened to one of them said that they were pretty exhausted with the Penumbra/Amnesia style games and they want to move on to something a little different. That probably means there won't be any sequel.

What's wrong with something new and original? I would rather have that than Amnesia 2.

I don't think prequels or sequels necessarily have to spoil the last game in the series, nor do they have to be boring/derivative. Silent Hill 2, for example. Honestly, what's stopping Amnesia from being a subtle prequel to Penumbra? They have the shared element of those mysterious lanterns.
