RE: Amnesia killed the horror genre

Both games are scary, but Amnesia is more because there's no weapon and the enemies are more scary.

Sorry for my bad English

Don't forget that ammo is barely even a concern in Dead Space, which was one thing that System Shock 2 and the early Resident Evils used pretty well to increase the scare factor. Nothing back then was even close to being as scary as running out of ammo or having your gun jam while hybrids chased you down yelling "KILL ME!" and "I'm ... sorry!" Big Grin

I'm not immune to jump scares.

There's no such thing as a "jump scare", as there is no fear involved. It's simply exploiting our instinctual reaction to things popping out of nowhere and making loud noises, which is being startled by them. There is no point before, during, or after a "jump scare" that you experience any level of actual fear.

Wrong. The anticipation of possible jump scares following the first one could be called fear. It wears off, but it's still there.

It's more anger for me, because I know what they're doing and it just pisses me off. Tongue

Reaction to jump scares.

If fate frowns, we all perish.
Do not fear the darkness, but welcome its embrace.
