The issue I suspect is that at startup the launcher wants to pop up. Running amnesia.exe directly (with preference for the Geforce 310M graphics processor and as Administrator) still brings up the launcher. This may be as I have yet to get the game to run.

Is there any way to stop the launcher from popping up?

The hpl.log shows:
Renderer: Intel® HD Graphics
Version: 2.1.0 - Build 8.15.10.2189

I can only assume that the launcher forces Optimus switching to revert to the integrated graphics and not use the 310M.

You may have to force disable the integrated graphics in your system settings.

Unfortunately that is not an option. With the newer Optimus technology the performance GPU writes directly to the integrated graphic's frame buffer. So the switching is seamless but can never be fully turned off. Maybe nvidia can fix the issue... I was really looking forward to this game.

Any other ideas?

Did you say that you made a preference to use 310M when starting Amnesia.exe? So you can specify a card to use for specific applications? Have you tried to also specify the 310M as the card to use for Launcher.exe?

That did not work. I checked the nVidia site and the latest drivers 260.xx fix this issue. (previous version was 257.xx)

So you are saying that updating to 260.xx made the game work?

Yes. The latest nVidia drivers show the correct video card in the launcher (310M for me) and starts the game. This will be an ongoing problem with Optimus as the profiles for which graphics GPU to use for any program need to be defined. The automatic updates through the control panel don't seem to be enough. I've had a similar problem before with Fallout3.

Such is life. At least nVidia is trying to keep on top of it.

Ah glad to hear! Sad to hear that "intelligent technology" is as dumb as ever though Smile

Hi, I just registered as the same thing has happened to me - I have the same graphics card as the OP. Is there ANYTHING I can do? This game is very expensive compared to the things I usually buy, and am really bummed out that I've wasted so much money.

Please help.
