I'm having the same problem as this person in the troubleshooting thread but they have not received a response. But I am using the full version of the game:
"
Im having trouble with a part of my graphics (note that im using the demo). i turn on the game it runs smoothly, except everything looks very off. theres no real textures. everything is black. but rugs and rocks are bright white (i assume there rocks i can't tell). so i exit and look into my documents and check the hpl i see an error that says: ERROR: Failed to compile GLSL shader 'C:/Program Files/Amnesia - The Dark Descent/redist/core/shaders/deferred_gbuffer_skybox_frag.glsl'!
Shader code: i either see that or ATTENTION: System does not support const arrays in glsl! please help. "

I have Vista 32-bit on a notebook and an NVIDIA GEforce 8400M GT. I've run through everything in the troubleshooting guide and am not sure what else to try.

HPL attached.

Attached is an image of what the game is doing. Would really like to play this game. Got it for Christmas and am excited to play it.

Again: Vaio FZ4000 Notebook. NVIDIA GEFORCE 8400m GT. Intel Core 2 DUO 2.4GHZ. 3 GB Ram.

Does anyone have ANY thoughts? I've tried everything.

Trust me, if you want any help, you want it from Frictional since they would know how to help.

In the mean time, did you update your drivers from the nVidia website? Did you try turning everything on low? Does this happen on the default settings? Does it happen windowed?

I see, thanks.

I downloaded the latest NVIDIA drivers and it wouldn't let me install them. So I tried the mobility modder and it let me install the driver but halfway through it fails every time.

Messing with the settings didn't do anything. I did default, then detect which maxed everything out, then I tried on minimum, then I tried some combos...

Hi bp85, indeed this does look like a driver issue. The problem with sony is that they won't let you install drivers they haven't digitally signed.

This can often be a problem because they don't always keep their drivers up to date.

Anyhow, nip over to sony support and see if they have an updated driver for your laptop.

Good luck.

I think the only solution is to somehow manage to install those new drivers because the log is filled with errors due to lack of support in your current set.

There's definitely no updated drivers from Sony--that was my first stop.

Any tips on using the mobility modder? I tried the hardware heaven forums and got nothing.

When I try to install the driver directly from Nvidia, I get a message that the install cannot proceed. When I use the mobility modder, I get past that message and the install proceeds, but then only lasts a couple of seconds before saying "install failed"

Try NVIDIA Omega Drivers. It fixed a major crashing problem for me. even if it doesnt fix it, it was worth a shot.
