Alright so I bought the game much earlier today, followed the instructions (dragged the Game into my Applications folder), but when i went to launch the game, it immediatly closed itself and i get the error message "Could not load main init file: config/main_init.cfg"... any idea's on whats wrong? also tell me if theres any info that i should post that would help you out (specify where to find this info also please, i've never encountered anything like this before o.O).

Did the demo version of the game work for you?

What version of OS X Are you using??

Can you right click (ctrl click) the game and click "Show Package Contents". Then within Contents/Resources is there a config folder?? There should be 23 folders and a handful of files.

Also what is the total size of the game? It should be around 2.16GB for Amnesia and 457MB for the demo.

Developing away on one of
Multiple Macs running 10.6, 10.7, 10.8, and 10.9.
Linux, 8-core AMD, 8GB RAM, Fedora 18, nVidia 450 1GB

The version of OS X is currently 10.5.8 however there is a software update available so I suppose I will see if an update helps.

When I opened the 'package contents' there was no configuration folder, and there were only 4 items shown, 2 folders and 2 plain text items.

The total size of the game is 2.02 GB so it seems I am missing some things there.

I downloaded the demo to see if that made a difference, but i think the same problem happened because thats only 436 MB and it crashes the same way the actual game does.

Btw the demo did the same exact thing the full game did, goes to full screen mode for a few seconds then crashes.

Is this a PPC or intel Mac? What graphics card do you have? (I'll dust off my Leopard system Check this ONCE more.. but this far I have not been able to recreate it).

Also how much free disk space do you have??

And I expect the sizes to be slightly different as Snow leopard calculates a MB differently.. x1000 instead of x1024...So those sizes are correct.. (457 *1000*1000 / 1024 / 1024 == 436)

Can you check the "package contents" on the disk image itself??

This is an Intel MacBook (pretty old series)

Video Card: Intel GMA X3100

I have 20.36 GB of free space left on this laptop (not sure if thats what you ment by free disk space though)

No I can't open package contents from the Disk Image itself.

starting to get the feeling its about time to trash this old macbook and invest in a new PC >.<

Well, for one.. the Intel GMA chipset is not supported.. Only ATI X1000+ and Nvidia Geforce 6+.

As for the last times you ran it (after reinstalling) you mentioned it ran for a few seconds and then quit. So you did not receive the Could not load main init file: config/main_init.cfg" error then?

If so then it looks like reinstalling fixed the "main init file" error, and you are just left with the fact that the Intel graphics card doesn't support the game.

i wouldn't say it 'Runs' for a few seconds... it goes into full screen mode, staying completely black, flickers blue for a half second, then crashes

Guess its just not supported... dammit what a shame, oh well thanks anyways for the help
