So I bought Amnesia for a friend and she's having trouble getting it to run. keeps giving that error at launch, but the PC's specs are more than adequate to run it fine.

AMD Phenom II x4 955
4GB ram
HD 6850
Win 7 64-bit
Drivers are the latest from the Ati site.

What do? :<

You can post your HPL.log under Documents/Amnesia/Main folder for more information.

Looks like a corrupted install. Try to verify integrity cache in Steam.

You should install your graphic card drivers.

I'm getting this "Exception access violation" error. Amnesia is constantly crashing in exactly the same place (in Cistern). The error reads: "Exception Access Violation in module nvogly32.dll" (there is a lot more to the message but this was all that I managed to write down before the message stopped appearing; now when it crashes the screen just goes black and freezes there).

I've been through your trouble-shooting guide and have tried just about everything. When this was happening in an earlier section/map, turning off VSYNC did the trick, but apparently something else is needed now, and I have no idea what. In case it's helpful below is my hpl detail, but mine doesn't say "GDI Generic". Can anyone please help?

Looks like a corrupted install, try re-installing or verifying the integrity cache if you are using Steam.

Hi,

So this isn't a problem with my graphics card? I'm not using Steam. As for re-installing, wouldn't that mean that I'd be starting the game over from scratch?! Or is that not the case? I've also wondered about installing the patch in case that might help. But the reason I haven't is that it looks like the patch replaces the version I've been playing and, again, I'd be starting from scratch. Am I wrong about that? (Hope so.) Thanks.
