Yes, normally you'll want something outside at the horizon since you don't want the player to be able to run off the map. This works pretty well for covering up the "ground" at the edges of the cubemap.

I hope so. There's plenty of cubemap textures online but not many in a usable format. Oh, and I'm working on your boat as we speak. So far, so good.

Amazing! SmileSmileSmile

Thanks. I've got it finished and floating, but the oar I made to go with it appears to have some non-Euclidean geometry, so ModelView rejects it. Once it's done, though, I'll put it up on the finished models thread.

I'm not sure if you're still doing these, but if you have the time could you please convert -

http://www.cgtextures.com/texview.php?id...6to2bbu0m1

into a cubemap, I tried to make one before, and spent about 2 hours getting it right (i only have GIMP so i have to do it manually) then i realised that a sunset would suit the map better. Anyways, I would really appreciate it if you could do this for me, thank you.

Do you have one that's a star sky?

Hmm, can you change the skybox during a custom story? Lets say its day outside but a storm is coming so could you change the sky to Overcast ?

RE: Cubemaps/Skyboxes

You can change it between maps just by putting it in the editor on different maps. There's a script function to change it after an event (within the same map), as well:
void SetSkyBoxTexture(string& asTexture);

I'll see if I can get a starry sky one up tonight. I'm off to dinner, though, so it'll be a couple hours. There aren't any available on cgtextures that really fit the description, so I might have to make one up from scratch or from a regular panoramic view (which will take a lot longer than just converting a cgtextures one). Fortunately, if it's truly dark apart from the stars, it shouldn't be too difficult to stitch together.

RE: Cubemaps/Skyboxes

Edit: i just reread through your post, and it seems you use Gimp, like me... So Ignore my earlier request - I thought you were using photoshop, and was creating CubeMaps Automatically. Smile
Instead would it be possible for you to just send me a high resolution copy of this cubemap?:

http://www.cgtextures.com/texview.php?id...6to2bbu0m1

That way I can make the High Res CubeMap myself, and it will save you some effort! I'll then reupload the finished CubeMap here, so others can use it if they wish!

I reckon the large (or Huge) size would look amazing, and it would be great if you could upload one of these for me. I would download the medium size myself, but it looks a bit too fuzzy in my opinion.

Thanks a lot! Smile

I'll get that made up for you, no problem. Smile The top resolution I can get from cgtextures is x683 but I can blow it up to 1024x1024 and touch it up manually to be cleaner. It'll be blown up immensely for skybox use anyway.

I'm still looking around for a good starry sky cubemap for zeravia. I might have to just grab a clear starry sky panoramic and fiddle with it until it's cubemappable.

@zeravia: Do you want a moon in the picture, or just stars? If worse comes to worst I can always draw one manually, but it might not look 100% realistic (I'll do my best though).
