Well, that's a long and complicated story. The 3rd person "camera" is 70% scripting, 29% weird mapping and an all-important 1% of tweaking the engine itself to squeeze some extra work out of it and get around problems discussed previously in this thread*. It won't be permitted to redistribute the tweaked version of the engine and so basically it won't be possible to plug the sidescrolling mechanic into another mod. You're welcome to have a look at the script when I release it though.

I'm considering leaving custom stories enabled and making some tutorials on how to put a level together. That would be a way for others to create similar stuff.


*On a similar note, I should say that due to the aforementioned engine tweak, A:TSD is now only compatible with Windows installations of Amnesia. (Future version might address this issue.)
