Legendary Pictures Godzilla Thread

Until we can enjoy Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs, I've decided to start a thread on the upcoming (2014) Legendary Pictures American Godzilla! Thread discussion topics will include: design speculations, plot, and anything else related to this upcoming movie.

As of the start fo this thread, Godzilla's official look for his (or her depending on how the make the movie) is unknown.

This, naturally, hasn't stopped people from posting their own design speculations. First off, the hazy image leaked from the Comic Con Godzilla trailer showing its head/neck/spines-- http://www.indiewire.com/static/dims4/IN.../newgs.jpg

The following images I've found online, which include a miniature version of the above image included, shows what two different people think Godzilla will be.

http://fc01.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2012/3...5pn43g.jpg
This design is more like the classic look, but instead of being 'fat' it's more of thick skinned/muscular. Aside from the feet and some of the back spines looking a bit big, this is a cooler look to the original design.

http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20...4172_n.jpg
This one stays true to the classic design, but includes T-rex features as well. Godzilla's origins, as some of you might remember, is a mutated T-rex like dinosaur. The classic design resmbled for of a carnivorous stegosaurus than a T-rex. The Tristar Godzilla, while it had T-rex like qualities, was also part Iguana. This Godzilla design features powerful jaws, a muscular build, and the ability to dodge attacks (like ones from Destroyah/Keizer Ghidorah) if the need arose. The spines are also a cool modification to the classic look (the spine pionting backwards would create less drag when swimming/running).

So far, not much of the story has been revealed. Only that Godzilla will battle a monster, and the story would be realistic (i.e. What would happen if Godzilla came to our city). At this point, any number of monster concepts could be Godzilla's enemy. One that comes to mind is this artists rendition of the Gryphon http://fc07.deviantart.net/fs70/f/2010/0...amurai.jpg

The Gryphon was the enemy of the unused 1994 Godzilla. I've read the script of this movie (script here http://www.scifiscripts.com/scripts/GODZILLA.TXT )

As I recall, Godzilla's origins here were different than the classic origins. Aliens had made Godzilla and was placed here to defend Earth from the Gryphon, a powerful monster that was destroying life on whole worlds. This Godzilla (concept art here http://roberthood.net/blog/wp-content/up...lla-94.jpg also mixes classic design with t-rex features. This Godzilla lacked regeneration but favored a powerful hide.

This 1994 Godzilla script is, in my opinion, worthy of being made into a Godzilla movie. This is what I think the 2014 Godzilla's story could be like. Having Godzilla being born from an alien race has its advantages. Godzilla's classic origins has been proven impossible to scientists (nuke radiation simply can't modify an animal to that extreme as the Japanese Godzilla films portrays).

Alien originated Godzilla means one can put all kinds of advanced genetics to make Godzilla scientifaclly possible (even walking on land considering its weight and surviving) and yet be beyond our science's understanding.

To me, I love Godzilla as a defender of Earth. I worry when the battle goes south, happy when it goes well, and makes for a more enjoyable film.

What do you think on its look; story; etc? As for actors, who would you pick?

This thread isn't related to Penumbra or Amnesia, so I can't include it with them. In my other threads, I'm usually the last one to make a post and I'm afraid to double post. In the past, when I was part of other forums years back, I got into trouble for double posting.

ON topic: While this Godzilla design size is shown for the game Monster Hunter, the design itself is also good and would be neat to see on the big screen http://fc05.deviantart.net/fs70/i/2012/2...5h03c3.jpg

RE: Legendary Pictures Godzilla Thread

i love you Rock Worm

anyway i don't know much about the movie and the story so you'll have to forgive me here but my hopes:

Godzilla should be fat
It doesn't die at the end of the movie Smile
and for some unknown reason i imagine Nicholas Cage to be a crazed scientist

I'm more of a 'Monster Nut', but glad to make you happy.

As for Godzilla, how do you know he's not big boned?

Now I'm surprised at myself, I forgot this fat and lovable Godzilla made by LDN-RDNT http://th08.deviantart.net/fs70/PRE/f/20...3ao665.jpg

Now I have to admit, if I saw a 100,00 ton monster actually running for me... I'd propably get out of the way as fast as humanly possible!
