Locate your Amnesia install folder.

In this folder you should find another folder called redist. In this folder you should find a folder called custom_stories.

So, for me as I've installed the non-Steam game, it looks like this: C:\Program Files\Amnesia - The Dark Descent\redist\custom_stories

In that folder, you simply drop the custom story's folder that you download into it.

From there it should show up in the in-game menu under Custom Stories.

No. You can install it anywhere.

RE: Amnesia Custom Story Installer
I'm currently working on a new version, and possible support for Linux/Mac.

So if anyone can tell me the default installation path on Linux/Mac, along with the path to the custom_stories folder, you'd really help me out.

Directory is currently hardcoded on Linux for testing. (Mac not supported yet)

This installer has me confused

It doesn't do at all what the directions or your video says it's supposed to do, it doesn't ask me where to install my custom story, it checks for updates then flips out at me and tells me I have to have a custom story for it to create an installer for when I haven't even had the chance to select one

I've installed Linux version of the game, however it lets you choose the path, I mean there is no absolute path for the game.

If you want, I can try and see if a simple script can give you the absolute path of the game. However your program should run the script and understand the path for the game and then work.

Well, the question is: Are the custom_stories folder in the game folder? Or at a fixed path in the home directory?

Can you choose any path? Or is it like "\SomeFixedDirectory\SomeYouChoose"?

custom_stories folder is in the same directory where Amnesia.bin is. So no, it's not SomeFixedDirectory.

Though, here's the possible paths you can install:
- /usr/local/games
- /usr/games
- /opt
- /home/username
