RE: Amnesia: A Machine For Pigs Discussion

I have been following this thread since the 400s, just browsing looking at what we have learned and watching you guys ranting about release dates, rediculous math (lol 7/5 obviously is april 4th), and especially the letter with all ur 3d viewing and working together! being all technical. however i only post this to ask a question. has anyone or anythread put all the speculation and what we know in one big list/paragraph? i have been looking and there are a few really small ones but i feel as tho there is more that should be on thos lists that is not... and also do we know about any differences in gameplay between TDD and AMFP? for example the introduction of guns Smile (obviously not gonna happen because it would ruin the game but any changes in the style of game play... i say this because i would like it to be the same for the most part but with changes such as the AI, Insanity (maby make insanity more vital to gameplay rather that making screen go blurry), or if the game is going to change to jumpscares (which it wont im sure)... in essence i guess im asking if we know if this game is going to be more like a big expansion or a whole new game worthy of calling itself a sequal. i know they have said that but i believe some gameplay aspects should be changes or altered to create fresh new gameply rather that repeating the same horror experiance just in a different map... just a post to reopen discussion about these topics Smile

I wholeheartedly concur. It even gives me an exciting feeling to just think about it. The game is practically done, and they are staying calm while trying to simply make it a perfect experience, despite the fact that they are probably way more excited than us to finally get to release it. I imagine the wait being harder for them than it is for us, so I think they are doing a darn good job polishing it. x3

The wait really isn't hard for them. Polishing has been finished some time ago. What they're doing now is called marketing.

What do you mean?
By my count they've delayed it twice.
From halloween 2012 to Q1 2013.
From Q1 2013 to Q2 2013.

At least you won't have to wait 4 years and getting an entirely different game (Splinter Cell: Conviction).

While that is true it doesn't make my point less valid.

Life is a joke made by someone with a bad sense of humor.

I'm a bit afraid that AMFP isn't going to be as scary to me as TDD. If the games are too similar I may not actually be frightened by the monsters. While playing through the first time it was scary as hell but then you learn that the monsters are actually really dumb and there is little reason to be scared.

Monsters are the least scary segment in Amnesia, so don't worry about them.

FrictionalGames understands that the less you see of something the scarier it becomes. for instance, in the part of the game with the water monster that is chasing you as you open doors down a long passage way, this presents far more fear because your mind is doing all the scaring. in truth, one doesnt even need the monster behind them, only the up beat sound and a long hallyway naturally making someone think they are near death as they move the mouse to open the door in a narrow escape... iv seen a custom story do this and it was quite effective then it showed me that there was not even a monster behind me. i felt soo stupid but it scared the **** out of me. now dont get me wrong that is not the key to any horror game because thats repetetive. the key horor aspect is to make people scare themselves. it makes us cower and tense up in fear unlike when a screamer come up and make us jump only to piss us off

You don't have to worry, they have changed the monster's AI so you can't use old tricks against them
