You're a great guy Traggey!

I, officially, don't hold any grudge against you, Traggey. But I have to ask. Is it difficult to be a moderator?

RE: The official ask Traggey thread. - the dark side - 09-09-2012

Sorry if this is seen as "backseat interferance" if so, please tell me and ill delete the post.

I can Answer that one, as a former mod on another, sadly long dead, site, specialising in working out if the small band of Autistic users were trolling on purpose or by lack of empathy, but also with powers to deal with NT members if they bullied the "special members".

Its a Nightmare, you get constant threats and flamings from trolls, you have to work out if what a person is doing is actually bannable, via the rules, and logical, rational thaught. you have to Literally supress your emotions, you cant just throw someone off because he said "call of duty is better than serious sam" and wound you up the point of throwing your desk out of the window, as that is unfair dismissal. you cant let yourself get "power hungry" you have to accept and abide by the decisions of other members of the mod team. you have to constantly be on best behavior, and very serious about everything, as a Moderator has to set a good example. you have to read virtually every post and thread, even those that are completley and totally incoherant or pointless, wich at times, can feel like a massive waste of time and effort.

but, its also Immensely Rewarding, knowing you are preventing unfair dismissal, making the environment as troll free as possible so its safe for people to talk about what they want to and post there opinions without being attacked with horrific threats and vile slurs by "e-thugs", and keeping the forum free of Filth, and ensuring the forum flows well and doesnt have its bandwidth clogged with pointless threads and moronic "joke" posts and spammy "memes". to know you are keeping the forum working, and keeping it a fun place to use and talk, realyl does give you quite the inner glow.

Question: as someone that is interested in "what makes a company tick", what was it about Frictional that attracted you to moderate/work for them Traggey?

Where has Tanshaydar gone?

RE: The official ask Traggey thread. - Robby - 09-10-2012

Haven't seen him in a while.

RE: The official ask Traggey thread. - Kman - 09-10-2012

Yeah I thought he just went to work on his mod and he lost interest in Amnesia due to that, but last time I checked there wasn't any new progress on that in ages.

"Last visit: 24th April, 2012."

Well, he's been gone for quite some time.

But at least others did. I'm sure Traggey will answer the question when he'll return. He used to be gone for longer periods of time now.

EDIT: Dang!
