...So eh... debugging hmm?
(Ok, it doesn't need much criticism, I just liked it and wanted to show it)

^ Would it be possible to add a black stroke around the text? It would make it much more visible.

Ah shit...

Yes it would.

But I have LOOOOOOADS of text. Changing one, and i'd need to change everything.

Why not put a black plane behind the text, that fits the inside portion of the picture frame. Bigger contrast of White on Black would make it easier.

Great idea! That's easier to make! Thank you!

This scene is alot brighter ingame but screens taken with fraps gets alot darker for me. Hopefully you guys can see what's in it Smile.

You can see the pic in full size here.

Side note: There hasn't been alot going on in this thread lately. Let's post some screenies! Big Grin

RE: Screenshot criticism thread

I figured this thread might be useful for more than just in-game screenshots. I'd like some feedback on the design and features I have planned for the update of my modloader. I might be able to release a new version tomorrow c:

Whatcha think?

Oh thank goodness this thread hasn't died!

Mudbill, I totally dig it!

Reminiscity!
Uhm it's dark on my screen but I think that's a problem with my computer, not your screenshot. I bumped up the gamma in photoshop so I could tell what's going on and I must say I'm pretty impressed wit the let side!
Since you have plants hanging down around that side, a few well-placed moss decals could really liven up that side, if you're in to texture editing, you can add the moss directly. I could totally give editing the texture a shot but I wouldn't be able to implement it since I don't have TDD or the dev engine on my computer anymore so give it a shot yourself first c:

I like the contrast between the orange and the blue lighting, that's really nice - is it possible you could use fog and dim the billboards a little bit around the hole in the cave entrance? Maybe add a no_depth_test halo billboard there for a bit of bloom in the lighting (same with around the lantern).

For the Right side, the detail's lacking a bit - or at least it's not quite what it could be. There's water everywhere and the iron bars are rusty, so one would expect that the wood to have a bit of damage to it. You can use static decals to pull off this effect quite nicely.

All in all, composition of the screenshot's great, lovely lighting, mapping's solid. Good work!

This is the menu :

And this is one of the first maps (sorry for the debug text ^^" )

RE: Screenshot criticism thread

I think the first two pictures are great, but the last one needs a little more work. There's too much contrast between dark and bright.

The billboards are too bright.
Lower the spotligt's brightness. Place a dark pointlight.
Try using other spiderwebs, than those that glow in the dark.
Put some dark dust in there. (Lower the alpha and the colors of the particle system)
Good work with decals.

I'd like to see more of the room, than just the wall though..
