Quote: I just have no idea what the hell it was.
No offense, but don't bring it up then. That's what makes people buy into the "ALIENZOR TAKING OVER TEH WRLDSS!!" bullshit.

Quote: It'd be stubborn to think we're the only "intelligent" life out there.
True, but alien life doesn't have to be intelligent. For all we know, we could be the best we have.(Damn.)

Quote: How do random species show up here? A bit of evolution may be involved,
but these new ones do not come out of nowhere. It's not "poof", new
animal... What makes these "abductions" any different from us?
You just answered your own question. Evolution is a pretty solid explaination. We can trace most species back to their roots.

Quote: Who's to say aliens aren't doing the same thing to us? That WE are their mice?
It's hard to imagine that they would be so successful at hiding from us if they were.

Quote: Yeah, some people may be lying about being abducted, but I'm sure there are a few out there that may have.

Isn't that the official classification of an "Unidentified Flying Object"? Its was unidentifiable and it was flying in some fashion. I did not say it was of alien origin, so anyone who is quick to say, "ALIENZOR TAKING OVER TEH WRLDSS!!", that's their own damn fault.

Intelligent is classified as an organism with acute reactions to the things around them, adaptation, and use of technology . I gave a dictionary link so you don't assume "electronic devices" only as technology. A monkey using a stick to get honey from a beehive is use of technology. Unicellular organisms are known as not being an intelligent life form. I was not identifying "intelligent life" as their level of knowledge. Aliens do not have to be intelligent, as it was reported that unicellular life forms were found on mars.

It is, but some species show up out of random. And very sudden. And with them being relatable to other and past species, perhaps these "scientist aliens" are not able to produce a new species on our planet's living conditions? perhaps they can't expand any further. These "scientist aliens" may be smart, but they may not know everything. Again... Much like us.

If they were real, perhaps this point is being proven otherwise? You do not know their technology. Who knows if they have already discovered a cloaking mechanism. They had most likely been around much longer than us if they can fly through space, I'm pretty sure cloaking would be as easy as 2+2=4. But I do not know what they do either. But they're certainly smarter (and probably less arrogant and stubborn) than us.

I can respect that as I am myself. But it is a belief. I'm not saying I am right and everyone else is wrong. But wouldn't it suck to be abducted and no one believe you, and no way of proving yourself? I'll give SOME people the benefit of the doubt, but most certainly not all.

RE: What do you guys think of UFO's?

This reminds me of a video where Neil Tyson had a conversation with Dawkins in a school some time ago.

If there would be alien space ships here, ciculating around earth, they would have to be incredibly intelligence, concidering they have been travelling space in order to get here. And that means they would need to create said ship, and we have not been able to do that yet, that concludes that any aliens getting here must be at least as smart as we are, or smarter (which is more probable).

There's one other thing that I find really interesting in the video I mentioned, Tyson mentioned the different in DNA between chimps and humans, and how massive difference it made in terms of intelligence, I believe it's about a 1% difference between chimps and us. Meaning that aliens could have a difference that's 1% from us in the same direction or more. That's some really intriguing stuff right there. Makes you think some.

It is, but it happens with an annoying level of frequency.

For the first part of your post, I will have say Mutations. For the second part I challenge you to bring evidence of these scientific aliens. Otherwise this discussion stops being practical.

This is the problem with your theory. It makes a lot of unfounded assumptions that can much more easily be attributed to simpler explanations.(E.g., there are no aliens)

They should expect disappointment when making those claims. I can accept that some people are being honest that they saw so and so, but I also say in the back of my mind: "They clearly misjudged the situation" Which is a better assumption to make than "They might actually be right! I should question everything I know because of this random person's claims!"

Occam's razor, FTW.

I found it ironic that you just said those two things in the same sentence.

Another thing, we are made of a combination of the most common substances (carbon, oxygen and hydrogen) in the universe (as far as we know, mind you). I find it extremely hard to believe that there would be no other form of life outside earth, even if it is simple - but that's not for me to judge.

Saying that something doesn't exist in the lack of evidence makes more sense than saying it does. I didn't mean there are <absolutely> no aliens in our atmosphere, but I can rest comfortably knowing that there <probably> aren't any.

I had a problem with the expression "explanation" when you clearly meant assumption. Also you don't need evidence to assume that something is true. The point in my post above proves it, even if it is indefinite, it is slightly undoubtful.

No evidence for either side of the argument, so we don't know whether or not aliens exist for sure, but I'd say they do - that doesn't mean they're intelligent or anywhere near earth though.

edited for poor wording.

I rate it 3 memes.

RE: What do you guys think of UFO's?

I'm not too sure about all the "alien visits" and I highly doubt that there are aliens on earth. Hopefuly there aren't any aliens on their way here either, and if there would be lets hope they are extremly different from us humans...and every other species on earth. The stronger rules the weaker is the general rule on earth and if they would be the same they'd be very powerful and dangerous since they would have enough technology to travel through space.
But still, I don't think there are or have been aliens here at earth. But I do belive that we are not the only living creatures in the universe.
