I'd pick up the first big crate I could find and carry it with me throughout the entire game. Water lurker? Stand on Mr. Crate and use some disembodied limbs as paddles for the Crateraft. Brutes/Grunts? Crate fortress of three/four crate towers blocking the door.
I would have been waaaaaaaay too scared to get close enough to use saws. (And, I think most people on here would too, if they were honest)

I would have given up and turned around when I read my own note. Broken a window. Once I'd forgotten about the Shadow, I'd have no reason to come back. It would kill me in my sleep some day.
I'd pack heat that's for damn sure... Oh and quite possibly huddle in a dark corner for hours trying to pinch myself to awake Big Grin
I'd probably start punching some of the wooden support beams and walls, and then crafting a bench, and wood pickaxe, and then break some of the stone off the walls and make a stone sword, armor, and bling.
I'd construct a large bonfire out of furniture, tinderboxes and copious amounts of oil. Then light it and retreat to cover.

If that plan doesn't pan out too well at least you get to see a big fire and lots of destruction.
If you listen to some of Daniel's rants to self later in the game you might catch:

Spoiler below!

"Should kill them all...burn the castle down. He'll never see it coming." *spoken in a very maniacal..insane tone.*

There's enough wine to last you a lifetime! Or at least until tomorrow Big Grin

This ain't Minecraft.

Ever thought of just dumping your oil can on the brute and setting him on fire?
I'd feel I'd owe it to my former self to seek out this Alexander fellow and murder him.

Once I reach the wine cellar I would start to reconsider my quest.
Once I see my first monster I would seriously reconsider my quest.
Once I escape the water area I would start to consider suicide.
Once I enter the storage room I would seriously consider suicide.
Once and if I reach the prison, my mind would be too far-gone to care anymore.
