I would probably die because I don't have the amazing regeneration power Daniel has.

If i was in Daniels situation i would use one of the many blades found around the castle, do my head in with a rock due to fear or smash a window and gtfo as fast as humanely possible XD
hmm... if i were daniel, i would've gather all the tinder and oil, brace myself with the best weapons i can find. kill who(what)ever that was in the way. enter the orb chamber and hop into the portal myself. i might get to meet Alexander's wife

Alexander does not really provide his secret family tree what he has probably not even made. It would be rather easy in 19th century to pretend to be owner of the place as baron was rather absent in their society besides doing his Baron duties.
Then again who knows, one of the loading screen texts tells that Baron actually did travel elsewhere too. Not to mention one of the notes he has wrote about attending to Order of The Black Eagle meeting.
If I were Daniel... I would just pretty much gtfo from the castle.
