The game will run in surround but the assets themselves have been designed for a 2 channel stereo setup. This means that whilst 3D sounds will pan to rear speakers, the ambience and non 3D sounds will only play in stereo.

The game will absolutely be best enjoyed with a good 2.1 setup or some nice headphones.

A quick google shows some nice reviews for good 2.1 speakers http://bestpcspeakers.org/best-computer-speakers/

Here's something interesting for you folks, a quick windows search for extension .ogg in The Dark Descent sound folder shows around 1500 files, Pigs is now upto 2700!

Thanks! Guess it's a good thing my 2.1 system is arriving today Smile

We're assuming that's a mistake, since frictional games hasn't said anything about a different release date. It's highly unlikely they'd share that information through an interview. They've always told us first directly.

Although it would be really nice to hear from them directly to confirm that...

It is, to put it nicely, a terrible idea.

It didn't, not officially at least. The Escaptist ran an article a few days ago stating a Q3 release date but with nothing whatsoever to back it up - I assume other sites are now just coping that (especially as somebody as also put Q3 on Wikipedia).

I won't belive it until I hear Frictional confirm it.

This is getting f-ing ridiculous. How long do we have to wait for even an official release date? They're already in the final testing phases, there's no reason to not give us release date by now. We've been waiting WAY too long for this game and had too many delays and push backs. Angry

I have a feeling they're not even going to give us a release date before the actual release.. I imagine Jens or Thomas coming to this thread and posting:

Uhm, hey guys.. We released the game. You can buy it here if you want *insert link*, should be fun.

Bye!

It's called marketing.

Life is a joke made by someone with a bad sense of humor.

Um, no. It's called post-production.
